Case Overview

The customer’s red copper stamped parts and copper connectors were prone to oxidation, fingerprint contamination, local darkening and short-term discoloration during production, handling and storage. Minghan Chemical provided a copper passivation and sealing process based on the active copper surface, appearance requirements and storage cycle, helping improve surface stability and oxidation resistance.

Customer Challenge

Red copper is sensitive to air, sweat, oil and humid environments. Without effective protection after cleaning, the surface may darken, discolor or develop localized oxidation spots within a short time. The customer needed better anti-discoloration performance while keeping the natural copper appearance stable.

Solution

Minghan recommended a process of degreasing, rinsing, copper passivation, sealing protection, drying and clean packaging. Pretreatment removes oil, fingerprints and surface residues. Copper passivation forms an anti-oxidation protective layer, while sealing improves film compactness and storage stability.

Result

After treatment, the copper surface became cleaner and more uniform, with visible improvement in oxidation marks and fingerprint residues. The combined passivation and sealing process improved short-term oxidation resistance and anti-discoloration performance, reducing appearance risks during handling, packaging and transport.

Implementation Process

01

Sample review

Confirm red copper material, oxidation level, oil contamination and appearance protection target.

02

Degreasing cleaning

Remove machining oil, fingerprints, dust and surface contamination before passivation.

03

Copper passivation

Match passivation concentration, time and temperature to form an anti-oxidation protective layer.

04

Sealing protection

Improve film compactness and anti-discoloration stability during storage and transport.

05

Drying and packaging

Dry thoroughly and use clean packaging to reduce water marks, fingerprints and secondary contamination.
