Copper Polishing Agent Before-and-After Treatment Case
For copper parts with dull oxidation, visible machining marks and insufficient brightness, Minghan established a degreasing, copper polishing and optional anti-oxidation protection process to improve surface brightness, cleanliness and appearance consistency.

After Polishing
Case Overview
The customer’s copper parts showed dull surfaces, slight oxidation, oil residue and local machining marks after machining, cleaning and short-term storage, affecting appearance consistency and subsequent passivation performance. Based on the copper condition, brightness target and production rhythm, Minghan Chemical provided a copper degreasing and copper polishing process to improve surface cleanliness and brightness.
Customer Challenge
Copper surfaces are sensitive to oil, fingerprints, air oxidation and machining residues. Standard cleaning can remove part of the contamination but often cannot significantly improve dullness or insufficient brightness. In batch treatment, color difference, local stains and uneven brightness may also occur. The customer needed a stable process to improve surface appearance without significantly changing the part dimensions or base surface condition, while preparing the surface for later passivation, sealing or packaging.
Solution
Minghan recommended a process of degreasing, rinsing, copper polishing, rinsing inspection and optional passivation or sealing protection. Pretreatment removes machining oil, fingerprints and surface contamination. The copper polishing agent improves dull oxidation and insufficient brightness. After thorough rinsing, copper passivation or sealing can be added according to storage and anti-discoloration requirements.
Result
After treatment, the copper surface became noticeably brighter, with visible improvement in dull oxidation, oil residue and local stains. The overall color became more uniform. The polished surface also provided a cleaner and more stable base for subsequent passivation or sealing film formation, helping improve appearance consistency, oxidation resistance and batch shipment stability.
Implementation Process
Sample review
Confirm copper grade, oxidation level, oil contamination, machining marks and target brightness.
Degreasing cleaning
Remove machining oil, fingerprints, dust and surface contamination before polishing.
Copper polishing
Match polishing agent concentration, treatment time and temperature to improve dullness and brightness.
Rinsing inspection
Rinse thoroughly and check surface color, cleanliness and local uniformity.
Final protection
Apply copper passivation or sealing protection according to storage and anti-oxidation requirements.
